Part 1: The Humans

The psychiatrist neatly put away his paperwork in his drawer and got up from his comfortable chair. He looked around the messy room and chuckled to himself, wondering how much more messy their would become when he returned from his trip. The man’s joyful spirit slowly died down as he focused more on the reason why he was on this trip in the first place. His gaze slowly went back towards his desk and to a wooden picture frame. His rough soft hands held the frame gracefully in his grim, staring at the picture before him. With his eyes drooping and tearing up the more he stared at the photo, his thoughts overwhelmed him. How am I even going to do this? I should of done more. Doing this would put everything I love and care about at risk. But I lost someone I cared about so why shouldn’t I risk to try to find him. Why did it have to be him- A beautiful voice soon called out to the lost soul breaking him out from his trace.”Blaze! Honey!” Blaze quickly placed the wooden frame back to it’s place on the shelf and ran down to encounter the sweet voice.
When finished racing down the stairs, Blaze openly hugged her and kissed her. “Hey there Mochi,” he said with a flirty tone. “What are you calling me down for?”
“Blaze! Not in front of Lily!” Mochi yelped, blushing in embarrassment, as a young girl playing with her toy giggled watching her parents. His wife went to pick up their child into her warming arms as Lily reached out, grabbing Blaze’s hand. Mochi smiled, still with blush upon her soft face, speaking with a soft voice, “I called you down because all of your luggage has been put into the car thanks to me. So this means you are ready for your personal trip.”
Her husband nodded and stared at her deeply into her eyes. As she saw the hesitation and fear within him, she gently placed down her 5 year old daughter. “Lily dear, I need to talk to dad alone,” Mochi quietly said to Lily. “Is that okay?” The young girl nodded rapidly and ran to hug her father, smiling up at him. Blaze smiled back at her and waved his hand for her to go play in her room. The moment Lily left, Mochi hugged Blaze closely. “You don’t have to do this.”
Holding her tightly, he shake his head. “I have to, love. I mean, what would you do if someone from you family went missing?”
Sighing, she whispered, “The same thing. But try to be careful with whatever he left you behind. No one has been there for awhile.”
Blaze nodded and let go of the hug, kissing her on her forehead as an attempt to reassure her. “I will be back as soon as I can. I love you.”
“I love you too.” The man could still hear her soft words echo into his ear as he put on a red jacket while entering the car, and drove of.
Hours and hours of constant driving until Blaze reached the location he should be at. A dusty ranch and a barn was within his sight as he drew near and close to the area. His eyes squinted trying to get used to his surrounding and being aware of everything that was there. His attention was then drawn towards another car in the distance in which he recognized right away. Next to the car, was a figure in a olive green uniform with a black ballistic vest standing around, apparently waiting for him. Blaze parked next to the black and white vehicle when he reached the barn. Stepping out, he went to greet the figure he saw. “Long time no see my friend. Or should I say, Sheriff Andrew Grant.”

As Andrew read the case files he put on his Sheriff ballistic vest and holstered his M1911 into his drop leg holster.
“824 to main, send me another unit to 6024 Lycan Road, Code 2,” Andrew commanded into his radio as he began to scan the area, he began to think of all the memories he had here. As he turned on the emergency lights in his Patrol Dodge Charger, he saw a car pull into the ranch. His old friend Blaze Fulcrum came out and greeted him. “Long time no see my friend. Or should I say, Sheriff Andrew Grant.”
“Hey Blaze long time no see, sorry I wish we had met again in better circumstances,” the sheriff said sharply as he pulled out the case files. ” I asked my records people to give me everything on this house. The house was abandoned a while back after your grandpa went missing. We’ve been lookin’ for him ever since, so far no clues but we did find some clues in the house.”
Blaze only nodded in response as Andrew put on some gloves and handing some over to him along with a police vest. “Here are some gloves and a vest,” Andrew stated while helping Blaze put on the vest, “stay behind me at all times don’t wander off I’m the only one that can protect you right now.”
As they entered the house, Andrew pulled out his M1911 out of the holster and turned on the flash light as he handed Blaze his flashlight from his duty vest the floor board creaked loudly. “Alright watch your step, this place ’bout to break on us.” said Andrew as he scanned the room. Both of them walked around the various rooms of the barn until Andrew stopped Blaze in his tracks. The officer pointed to a body laying down against one of the old barn walls and slowly approached it. Blaze followed slowly as well. When Andrew was close enough he could see extremely serious injuries upon the man and with quick thinking, called up an ambulance. Blaze and Andrew carried the injured man back to Andrew’s police car so that he can be secure until the ambulance can arrive. Both stared to head back into the barn until they heard a loud noise coming from the police car and immediately ran back outside.

I woke up in the back of an officer’s car. It smelled like cranberries it really did. Then there was this loud noise. It hurt. A lot. I made myself grow larger and larger which crushed the car I was in so I could be free. I then rammed my fist in that direction to stop which stopped it. It did end up hurting my hand though. Suddenly there was this chirping that caught my attention. My head jolted into the direction of this two small but clearly dangerous beings. One was holding a weapon as the other one was a frail fellow. I think they might have been the ones who locked me up to send me away. Anyways, I was furious and was ready to defend myself, clearly showing off true power and might to these small insects. I jolted toward the frail thing and clawed his back which made his frail body collapsed, bleeding rapidly. A loud bang noise happened which made me hurt a lot. My back was just shot. The noise and pain. I need to stop it. I screamed and pretended to collapse. I heard him coming closer and closer. Perfect. I lowered his guard. In anger, I jumped toward him and dug my nails into his leg and then ran into the protection of the woods.

A hooded figure swiftly ran pass both Andrew and Blaze right into the center of the forest where the creature went. As both were injured, they barely made out who it was running but Andrew faintly noticed the mysterious figure holding a tooth similar to that of the monster. As Blaze was still trying to recover on the cold hard ground, the sheriff barely sat up with his arm supporting him to see what was going in the forest. Andrew was unable to witness anything as this person disappeared into the forest, chasing after the monster.
He reached into his belt and grabbed a small explosive while his cape flowed in the background. This was his chance and his only shot to defeat this creature once and for all. His dash suddenly stopped as his eyes darted all around in search of any movement. Moments and moments of silence passed while the armored man stood still, waiting. A scream ringing all the around the deep forest as the man is hit by the monster. The struggle was intense as the man is pinned down on the dirt ground while the creature held him down with a firm grip. Unable to do anything else, the man in a desperate attempt to end here in now ignited the explosive in his hand. A massive explosion erupted pushing back the man back towards the farm in the view of Andrew and Blaze. Thanks his armor, he was able to survive the blast and sat up in hopes to witness the dead body of the monster. The dust was clearing up and… nothing. Frustrated and furious, the man got up as two bright lights shot at him, forcing him to turn around and see the sheriff and psychiatrist walking towards him. Seeing that Andrew was local law enforcement and was holding a weapon directly at him, the figure raised up his hands.
“This is Sheriff Andrew Grant of of Hawkin’s County and Psychiatrist Blaze Fulcrum. State your name and business.” The officer and Blaze approached him closer. The figure removed his hood revealing himself. Both stopped dead in their tracks.
“You already know who I am, mates… Remember Dale Capernick from high school? Yeah. That’s me.”

The sheriff, psychiatrist, and their savior all slowly made their way back to the farm after checking the forest to see if the monster was still there. They all examined the wreckage of the police car, Blaze’s car, and the ambulance.
“Well this is a ton of nonsense!” yelled Andrew as he was limping on and holding onto Blaze. “MY DANG CAR IS BLOWN UP THANKS TO THAT THING AND THE GUY INSIDE IS PROBABLY DEAD!”
Dale looked deeper into the wreckage and had a wide eyed expression. “Mates… that man you are talking about isn’t dead….” Blaze and Andrew gave each other surprised and confused looks as Dale slowly moved the man from the barn out from the rumble.
“Oh my- how did he even survive?” Blaze questioned as he and Dale moved the injured towards the inside of the barn. Blaze looked around and noticed the time settling down as the surroundings became darker and darker. “Oh no- its turning night… What if that things attacks us again?! How would we be able to-!?”
Before Blaze could continue panicking about the current state they all were in, Dale cut him off with a confident tone. “Listen mate, we hide out here during the night. Set up camp and shop.”
Andrew gave him a somewhat annoyed look. “How exactly do we survive? All I got are standard police equipment- which I must say my commutations also broke- so that means no back up.”
Dale gave him a back a look while Blaze set down Andrew and attended to his leg wound. “Remember how I was obsessed with the unknown and mythological, always getting called like crazy, creepy, weird, all sorts of stuff? Well I mastered it. So if you don’t trust me, we all die.”
Andrew fell silent as Blaze finished patching him up and attend to his own wounds. Blaze looked over to the unconscious man with a questioning look then to Dale. “Do you know what that creature was? Anything about it?”
Dale smirked and pulled out a sharp tooth. Andrew exclaimed, “That’s one of the creature’s teeth. I saw it when it opened its mouth, screaming like hell.”
Dale nodded. “This belongs to an ancient being. Been around for… since I was alive. Maybe long.” He slowly turned his head towards his old classmate and friends with a intense look on his face. “It’s a wendigo. And I intend on killing it for what crimes it committed.”
